The “Not In My City” Campaign

Not In My City is Cape Christian’s response to the vast disconnect we see between the lives of people in our city and the fullness of life available to them in Jesus Christ. As we witness children failing to reach their potential, marriages struggling to thrive, and people living in crisis, we shake our heads with God and cry out “Not In My City!”

While this ministry was started by Cape Christian, the goal is for it to be a campaign that takes on a life of its own as other churches and organizations continue to join. So far we’ve already seen three other Cape Coral churches join the campaign as well as the partnership of ten other non-profit organizations.

Chad’s role as director is to continue to expand the campaign by raising awareness, expanding new ministries and recruiting and developing leaders to implement the campaigns objectives. With the broad financial support of donors like you, this campaign can continue to flourish outside the walls of any one church.

The Woolf Family Story…

Chad and Kari both migrated to the warm weather of Southwest Florida from small towns in cold climates. Chad moved to Fort Myers, FL from Eastern Iowa in 2004 when he was twenty-four years old. Kari moved to Cape Coral, FL from southern Vermont in 2005 after graduating from Nyack college in New York when she was twenty-two.

They met in 2006 at a young adult ministry that was meeting in the home of a friend Chad lived with. By the winter of 2006 they were dating and in September of 2007 they became engaged to be married. The wedding happened in April of 2008 and at that time they began serving together at Park Alliance Church where Chad was the Assistant Pastor.

In November of 2009 Chad and Kari moved to Cape Coral, FL where Chad became the Pastor of Student Ministries at Cape Christian. Then, in the summer of 2010 Kari became pregnant with their first child, who turned out to be a little boy named Turner!

As Cape Christian continued to grow and look to more effectively reach their city for Christ, they decided to start a new campaign in Cape Coral called “Not In My City”. In the fall of this year Chad accepted the call to step out of his full time position as Pastor of Student Ministries and into the new role as Director of the Not In My City campaign. This decision meant trusting God to provide through the gifts of individual donors and Chad and Kari are asking those who know them to consider partnering with them in their prayers and finances.

Recently Turner turned six months old! He’s already rolling around, trying to crawl, and always pulling on Mommy’s hair! Thank you for your friendship and be sure to check back here often for updates on the Woolf family!

Partner With The Woolf’s

This has been the most eventful year in our family’s life! Kari made it through her first pregnancy, we’ve adjusted to life as new parents, and recently Chad transitioned out of Student Ministry here at Cape Christian. This was done so Chad could accept a role as Director of a new outreach ministry started by our church, called Not In My City.

In order for us to follow God’s calling into this new role, we find ourselves at another “first.” For the first time we are coming to you who know us and in addition to prayer are asking that you partner financially with us long term.

Not In My City is being funded exclusively through the financial gifts of individual donors, and this includes our salary. This has been a big step of faith for us, and we are confident that God will provide. We know that not everyone will feel led to give financially. Please still partner with us by praying and by helping to connect us with others who might feel called to give toward this very exciting outreach.

Please pray for our family as we begin our fundraising process and ask God what role you might have to play in our support. If you want to partner with us financially and/or keep up with our family and learn how to pray, follow us here.

How to Give – If you would like to support us financially you can do so online by clicking on the “Support Us” button in the side column to the right. If you would like to mail a check, please make it out to “Not In My City” with “Chad and Kari Support” written in the memo. Checks can be mailed to Cape Christian ATTN: Chad Woolf, 2110 Chiquita Blvd. S. Cape Coral, FL 33991.
